100% Western propaganda.
Sanctions only made Russia stronger as a country. They are more unified than ever before. Putin was and still is the glorious leader of the Russian nation. It's only a matter of time decadent westerners will submit to Russian might!

In 2014-2016 oil fell to the floor, we helphelped in Syria and on the Ukraine and there were sanctions. Yet economy fell only by ~3% and then resurged. Putin's genius proved again.

Russia spent last money from Reserve Fund in December 2017.
So eventually ruble will go down again to fill budget.

It has been stagnating with $100 for a barrel. 1-2% of GDP growth in Russia is at level of statistical bureau cheating, meaning the real growth was even less.
>>43465842
>but no money to start new production
Money is a function from population and production along with part in international trade. In ex-USSR not money is the problem, and not only institutions. It's the absence of rules and irregularity in usage of laws, laws are written that way, they can be exploited by ruling class anyway they want.

Some methodologies may point to a contraction in the third quarter -- ours doesn’t. The expansion continues, though it’s sluggish relative to history. The final quarter of 2017 should see more of the same, bringing annual growth to about 1.7 percent.

>transitory
>transitory
>transitory
The article literally goes on to say the downturn will be temporary and the most significant impact it might have is simply on Putin's election campaign. Then it says the downturn has to do with a hot second half of 2017. So it's fucking nothing.

Of course it will be temporary, but that does not mean that it is not bad. Growing later is no supplement for growing now. Ideally, you would want to grow all the time, especially in a country were basic things are still missing. Russia will be even further behind after this.

Fun fact: Contrary to what Russians always say, GDP figures include black markets, drugs etc. It is hard to estimate GDP for countries like North Korea, because there is no reliable data or the data is not published, but for Russia, it has never been underestimated in history. To the contrary, it has been overestimated many times.
