I have two question, one practical and one rather theoretical.
The first one is, I'd like to visit the marché de Noel in Strasbourg. The thing is, my french is very bad, will that be a problem for me?
I speak German, of course, and good English, if that helps.
And the second on is a Bernd related question. There are quite a few places I relly want to see, but I have nobody who wants to go with me there.
Of course I could go alone, but since I'm a Bernd, I am not at ease around people and I guess this will be even more delicate when I'm abroad.
So, are there any other Bernds dealing with this and who could give me a few tips?
I really would like to see other places, but I also want to enjoy the trip and not feel nervous all the time.
(2nd question can be ignored, if it is board unrelated).
I'm no expert on this but it seems to me that being quite a touristy event you should be able to manage with English there. Which other places would you like to see? I'm currently living in Germany, because of my berdness I haven't been able to make a group of friends yet so I haven't ventured too far from where I live.
My next destination would be Prague, probably.
Somewhere that isn't so far and just for a weekend.
You can get by anywhere speaking only english
You'd be fine there as long as you stick to the main areas.
> stick to the main areas.
I'd probably aim for the anyway.
Maybe not in the urban areas, but in rural Alsace there is still a lot of people who are native German speakers. You'll certainly be okay with English and German.
Try staying in a hostel, maybe you'll meet some people to hang out with.
I'll be there for one day.
More would probably be to much for this Bernd.
You will be fine in Strasbourg. It's so close to Germany that most people will understand German as well. At least a bit.
If you go to Prague and you are a nice guy I would accompany you. I live in Dresden.
Strasbourg is cancelled because of a date.
>If you go to Prague and you are a nice guy I would accompany you.
I really do plan going there, but the part about being a nice guy is something I actually can't answer.
I'm by far not a /b/-Bernd, but I'm still some kind of a Bernd.
Well, I am a Bernd too of course. But not hardcore Bernd. I am not ugly and deformed or crazy and after a few beers I loosen up and can have nice conversations.
> I am not ugly and deformed or crazy and after a few beers I loosen up and can have nice conversations.
Sounds a bit like me.
I guess we have a plan.
But I'm a slave to the univerity right now, have to study for exams, so no time in the next weeks unfortunately.
I am going home for christmas and new years eve anyway. I am not available until january :3
